Our Story
Universidad de Loreto (UDL) is a private higher education institution with a growing academic history spanning more than a decade. From its beginnings as a specialized institution focused on Business Studies, UDL has developed into a multidisciplinary university offering academic and professional opportunities across Business, Information Technology, Computing, Education, and other emerging fields.
Founded on September 27, 2010, as the Universidad de Loreto College of Business Studies (UDL COM), the institution was established under the leadership of its founder and President, S.J. Arturo Sanchez. Its early years were focused on developing strong foundations in business education and creating opportunities for students seeking advanced professional qualifications.
From a Business College to a Growing University
UDL began its academic journey with its pioneering cohort of Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) students, who commenced their studies on May 1, 2011.
As the institution grew and attracted students from different countries, it expanded beyond its original Business focus. In 2013, UDL introduced its School of IT & Computing, marking an important step toward becoming a multidisciplinary institution.
The university continued expanding its academic and institutional capacity, creating new opportunities for students and strengthening its educational infrastructure.
Building for Growth
Between 2015 and 2017, Universidad de Loreto entered an important period of institutional development and expansion. During this period, the university invested in modern learning facilities designed to support a growing student population and provide improved academic resources.
In 2016, the University was licensed to operate, marking an important milestone in its institutional development.
In 2017, Universidad de Loreto officially opened its doors to the public, beginning a new chapter in its journey as a higher education institution.
Since then, the University has continued to grow its academic community and expand its educational offerings.
Expanding Academic Opportunities
Following its early success in Business and Information Technology, UDL broadened its academic portfolio to include additional areas of study.
The University developed programs and academic pathways in Business Management, Education, Information Technology, Computing, postgraduate studies, and doctoral research, providing learners with opportunities to advance their knowledge and professional careers.
This expansion reflects UDL's commitment to adapting to the changing needs of students, employers, communities, and the wider world.
